Senior Data Engineer (Prescient Investment Management)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Development & Optimisation

• Optimise and develop databases for scale
• Develop and implement new database or auxiliary technology 
• Assist in migrating database-related applications to cloud platforms
• Monitor database usage and measure database service quality
• Implement performance tuning strategies to improve query execution times 

Data Governance 

• Data lineage management and implementation
• Document data sources and use-cases
• Develop and enforce data quality standards
• Implement data security protocols and access controls
• Ensure compliance with relevant data regulations and licensing

Systems Integration

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand integration requirements
• Integrate 3rd party data systems with Prescient systems
• Develop APIs and interfaces for seamless data exchange
• Troubleshoot integration issues and implement solutions
• Evaluate new integration technologies and recommend adoptions

Data Engineering Culture

• Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data solutions
• Create scalable and robust data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
• Research industry best practices and implement within the organization
• Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration on data engineering projects
• Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements
• Collaborate with data scientists and quantitative analysts to enhance advanced analytics and ML initiatives

• Always operate within the Prescient value system (internally and externally)

  • Contribute positively and be solution driven.
• Suggest and implement process and systems enhancement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• University Post Graduate Degree (Computer Science/Information Systems/ Maths /Stats/Business Science/Actuarial).
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
