To provide technical investment operations support to the broader investment team and clients and take responsibility for ensuring the efficient and accurate execution of investment operations across a range of asset classes within the organization. This involves having oversight of the outsourced fund administration service. As part of the Middle Office Operations team, you will apply your knowledge and experience of client relationship management, fund administration processes and operations, and fund accounting to play a key role in this dynamic team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate new fund launches, ring fencing, transitions and terminations. This involves coordinating with the client, consultants, fund administrators, investment teams and business development team.
  • Oversee and monitor the delivery of the Fund Administration provider to ensure client service levels are met, issues identified are resolved timeously and SLAs are adhered to.
  • Investigate and resolve all fund and admin-related client queries and requests.
  • Review and verify daily/monthly reconciliations of portfolio holdings, cash positions and transactions to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain detailed records of investment activities, trades and documentation for auditing and compliance purposes
  • Reconcile (local & offshore) OTC positions and investigate discrepancies.
  • Resolve issues related to trade discrepancies, settlements or operational challenges to prevent financial loss.
  • Ensure timely and accurate settlement of certain (unlisted) investment trades, which may involve coordinating with brokers, custodians and/or counterparties to confirm delivered assets/payment.
  • Work closely with the Business Development and Investment teams to provide quality support and service to clients.
  • Maintain good internal relationships between all the various departments within the business and the outsourced Fund Administrator.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information on client portfolios.
  • Preparation and maintenance of procedure documentation.
  • Improve processes, reduce risk and increase operational efficiencies.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 3 years’ Fund Accounting experience (Unit Trust / Segregated portfolios) gained in Fund Administration or Asset management is essential.
  • Solid understanding of various financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of relevant Investment administration systems as well as knowledge of the regulations and legislation that govern the Asset Management industry.
  • Strong Excel skills. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BCom / B Bus Sci Degree / Postgraduate (Finance/Maths/Stats/Business Science) is essential.
  • Essential to have Accounting II, Finance II in undergraduate Degree.
