The Chief Technology Officer is a senior executive responsible for leading an organisation's digital transformation by developing and overseeing strategies to integrate digital technologies across all business functions, enhancing customer experiences, driving innovation, and ultimately achieving business growth through the strategic use of digital tools and platforms; essentially, they are the primary leader in steering a company towards a digital-first approach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing Digital Strategy:

  • Creating and implementing a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with overall business objectives, encompassing digital marketing, customer engagement, product development, and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic thinking and vision for digital transformation.
  • Overseeing the budget allocation for digital projects and ensuring efficient resource utilisation. 

Leading Digital Transformation:

  • Overseeing the transition of an organisation from traditional methods to digital technologies, including process re-engineering, system upgrades, and cultural shifts. Strong leadership and communication skills to influence cross-functional teams required.
  • Ensure that digital initiatives are fully integrated with the strategic-planning process, including leadership commitment and resource allocation.
  • Drive digital innovation and serve as a change agent throughout the organisation.
  • Focus on creating new value through the smart use of digital tools, platforms, technologies, services, and processes.
  • Champion the use of digital technology and practices to engender a digital mindset from the top down.

Innovation and Technology Evaluation:

  • Identifying emerging digital trends and technologies to assess their potential impact on the business and exploring opportunities for implementation.
  • Own and monitor the digital-innovation project portfolio
  • Identify new tools (AI, digital, CRM) that can support and enhance our solutions.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Working closely with other departments including investments, marketing, sales, operations, and IT to ensure seamless integration of digital initiatives across the organisation.
  • Ensure collaboration, knowledge sharing, and digital best practices among partners and colleagues to help establish a robust digital ecosystem.


Customer Experience Management:

  • Prioritising customer needs and designing digital experiences that optimise customer engagement and satisfaction. 

Data Analytics and Insights:

  • Utilising data analytics to measure the effectiveness of digital initiatives, identify actionable insights, and inform decision-making.
  • Measure ROI for digital projects, fine-tuning approaches as needed to ensure that we’re investing in the appropriate tools and resources.

Talent Development:

  • Partnering with talent function to building and leading a high-performing team of digital experts with the necessary skills to drive innovation and execute the digital strategy. 

Cloud Migration, ensuring architecture is kept up to date / modern:

  • Approach would include modernising systems through cloud migration, implementing serverless architectures, and carving out key functionalities into scalable services.
  • Experience with using like technologies like AWS CloudFormation to spin up entire environments quickly, minimising manual intervention, reducing errors, and ensuring scalability. Ensuring that systems remain up-to-date, secure, and compliant with industry standards, contributing to long-term stability and scale.
  • Continuously stay up to date with the latest methodologies, emerging technologies, and industry-leading practices, and integrate these insights to the organisation’s context, delivering tangible business value and distinctive advantages.
  • Translate business needs into technical solutions, establishing a seamless link between technology and our overarching business strategy. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • 10 years + of experience in a similar role designing and launching digital platforms with proven leadership of successful digital transformation projects.
  • Experience in managing and leading a digital team.
  • Understanding of core business processes and their associated technical solutions.
  • An innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward. Strategic thinking and vision for digital transformation.
  • Experience in managing and leading a digital team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in business, technology, or engineering.
