In 2011 when we embarked on growing the Prescient brand into the retail market we chose to portray our philosophy and offering through novel nature imagery, using the likes of the rhinoceros, as well as the tortoise. The selected animals symbolise the group's traits.
The rhinoceros characterises our conviction as we only believe in one way of doing things, and that's the right way. The tortoise highlights Prescient's focus on the preservation of funds and our long-term outlook. We offer our clients returns that are steady and consistent and are, therefore, proud to be tortoises. We are saying that in this volatile investing environment, we offer the ability to truly manage risk to meet each client's tolerance level. The flock of migrating geese symbolises the group's emphasis on consistently working together, in a specific formation.
We brought in sculptor Beth Armstrong - an up and coming artist - to help create the imagery of the animals.
Beth Armstrong, heralded as one of Art South Africa's most recent Bright Young Things, takes the medium of sculpture into truly innovative territory.
The Artist Behind the Animals
Born in Nelspruit in 1985, a young Beth always knew she was, in her own words, ‘going to do art’. This phrase perfectly captures her practical approach to work.
Beth’s aim is to expose the human tendency to want to recognise form, and fix meaning. Currently based at Cape Town’s iArt Gallery, Beth completed her Masters in Fine Art at Rhodes University in 2010. Her first solo exhibition outside her academic career was inspired by a rather surreal experience. She recalls: ‘One night, a man-sized seahorse appeared in my bed. I decided to make this man-sized seahorse, hoping that he would then get out of my bed’.
With her unique approach to art, you can expect to see more of Beth’s work not only locally, but around the world as well.
Why a Rhino?
We're as stubborn as the rhino when it comes to investing. Because, with financial decisions, we believe in one way of doing things - the right way. And that's just the way our clients prefer it.
Why a Tortoise?
Tortoises are slow and steady, but everyone knows that they win the race in the end. Our approach to investing is just as consistent. This allows us to grow our clients' investments at a reliable rate, a track record we're very proud of. We also protect our clients' assets, just like the tortoise's shell protects it.
Why a Goose?
Never deviating from formation, geese always stick to their flight path. That way, they manage to migrate successfully year after year. Prescient doesn't zig or zag either. When it comes to investing, we consistently work together, allowing our clients' investments to grow successfully. Like geese, we also adhere to a team-based approach, working together to reach new heights in the most efficient streamlined way.
